Pastor & Spiritual Leader


New Hope Granville Missionary Baptist Church is led by The Reverend James Isaac, III. Reverend Isaac was born in Durham, NC, to Mr. James Isaac, Jr. and the late Mrs. Annie B. Isaac, and educated in the Durham Public Schools System. He graduated from North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro, NC, with a BS Degree in Computer Science, then furthered his studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Shaw University Divinity School. He became ordained and licensed to preach the Gospel by the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Durham. In May 2000, Reverend Isaac was called to serve as the twelfth pastor of the New Hope Granville Missionary Baptist Church, Berea community, Oxford, NC.

Past experience


The Reverend James Isaac, III is a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Christian Student Leadership Consultation and the Association of Christian Student Leaders. He served as Second Vice-Moderator and Executive Board Member of the Wake Missionary Baptist Association, as well as on the Board of Directors of Method Day Care Center, Inc. Reverend Isaac also served as a member of the Minister’s Council of the General Baptist State Convention of NC, and the Special Assistant to the National Director of the National Baptist Student Union. Reverend Isaac is the former pastor of the First Baptist Church, Chinquapin, NC, and the Oberlin Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC.

Present day service


Pastor Isaac currently serves as the Moderator of the East Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Association. He also serves as the Moderator of Moderators, a member of the General Board, and the Election Committee of the General Baptist State Convention of NC, Inc.

Family life


Reverend Isaac is married to Cheryal Blount Isaac. They are parents of three adult children, Jasmine, James, IV, and Jessica. They are the proud grandparents of two grandchildren, Jayden James and Kennedy Yvonne.
